中国大地财产保险股份有限公司(中国大地财产保险股份有限公司渊源于1949年10月成立的原中国人民保险公司。1996年7月原中国人民保险公司进行体制改革，分设为中国人民保险（集团）公司和中保财产保险有限公司、中保人寿保险有限公司、中保再保险有限公司。1998年，经国务院批准，中保集团撤销，产、寿、再三家专业子公司独立为国务院直属保险企业。1999年3月，中保再保险有限公司改建为中国再保险公司。经国务院同意，中国保监会批准，2003年8月，中国再保险公司更名为中国再保险（集团）公司。中国再保险（集团）公司又以投资人和主发起人的身份控股设立了中国大地财产保险股份有限公司。
